Interclub Sevens. Division 1, was won by the Stoke men's and women's teams. Division 2 was won by the Stoke women's team and the men were runners up to Motueka.

National Secondary School Championships.


Congratulations
to Kelly Brenton and Julia Hodgson (sk) who won the Girls pairs title at Pakuranga in Auckland. They played great bowls in the final to win the gold medal.
And to Joshua Thompson who won the bronze medal in the boys singles. He had a close 15-14 semi-final against Ryan Khan ,the eventual winner.
The 12 players in the Region 5 team, (which is Nelson, Marlb, Cant and Coast) were the best performed team. A really fine effort.

Congratulations to our players who did so well.
Amy Brenton won the Junior Singles with a win over Wakefield's Anne Mead in the final, 21-19.
Don Wadsworth won his second bar to his gold star when he teamed with Paul Bacon and Lloyd Bellis to win the Ch of Ch triples.
Women's Junior pairs Ch of ch
was won by Amy Brenton and Caroline Wadsworth.
And Pat Kopura, lesley Amos and Kath Newth were runners-up in the Women's Ch of Ch triples.

This final was played on Friday evening at the Stoke club and although the winners led all the way it was a very tight game with great bowls being played.CONGRATULATIONS Shannon and Amy.
EXTRA! EXTRA! Shannon and Amy won the regional play- off and will play in the NZ final. GOOD LUCK!

NEW ZEALAND OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS / TRIPLES
GARY WATSON.
Gary was a member of the composite team that won the NZ Open Triples, defeating an experienced Auckland team.
His skip was Shayne Sincock (Canterbury)and the lead Lance Pascoe (West Coast)

Gary also won the Stoke Senior Singles for 2008/09 season.
NELSON CENTRE JUNIOR PAIRS CHAMPIONSHIPS.
Congratulations to Brodie Dix and Lloyd Bellis who won this event.
The final against John and Christine Rainey of United, was played under extremely difficult conditions with strong gusty wind affecting everyone's play.
Going into the final end Stoke were 5 down, but on the long end managed to pick up 5 shots to tie the game!
On the extra end Lloyd played a wide shot on his forehand for the wind to drift in, and it proved to be the winning shot.
Bob Thomson and John O'Callaghan were semi finalists.
The tournament for non qualifying pairs was won by L Penketh and M. Smithson of Stoke.
